Qualifications

• Master's degree from an ALA-accredited library program required.
• At least three years of reference experience including at least one year of library instruction or classroom teaching experience.
• Demonstrated competence using electronic resources, including electronic and web-accessible databases.
• Evidence of respect for and understanding of people with diverse backgrounds, abilities, and needs.
• A practical knowledge of library emerging technologies and instructional design.
• Flexibility in adapting to changing organizational priorities and technological environments.
• Strong customer focus with a passion for the profession.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, community residents, librarians, and support staff are essential.

Responsibilities

• Develop, coordinate and administer library instruction program aligned with the Library's information literacy goals.
• Ensure instructors are aware of desired learning outcomes and objectives of the library instruction program.
• Collaborate with library and academic faculty to deliver research assistance and learning activities.
• Serve as a resource for library staff regarding pedagogy.
• Coordinate reference services, including scheduling and supervision of 7-9 part-time librarians.
• Assist students, faculty, staff and patrons with reference and research needs.
• Establish and maintain training manual for reference librarians.
• Create weekly reference desk schedules and perform regular reference desk duty.
• Develop and administer faculty, student and staff assessment projects and use data for improvement.
• Provide assessment data to colleagues and coordinate LibQual and IPEDS reporting.
• Coordinate Library Assessment Surveys and liaise with Humanities/other departments.
• Work with faculty to align library instruction with course content and complex topic searches.
• Monitor funds for monograph acquisitions in liaison areas.
