Kustom HR, a growing fractional HR consulting firm in the Northern NJ/NYC area, seeks an HR Generalist to partner with experienced professionals and support a diverse client portfolio across industries. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in HR, business administration, or a related field.
• 2–4 years of HR Generalist experience.
• Payroll experience is a strong plus.
• Working knowledge of HR best practices and employment laws.
• Experience with HRIS and payroll systems.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate new hire onboarding and employee orientation.
• Maintain client employee personnel files and HRIS records.
• Support employee relations by addressing routine HR inquiries and escalating complex issues.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and company policies.
• Assist with policy development, handbook updates, and HR documentation.
• Prepare HR reports, metrics, and other administrative documentation.
• Support compliance activities, audits, and recordkeeping requirements.
• Assist with payroll processing for multiple clients by collecting, reviewing, and validating payroll information.
• Review employee timekeeping records for accuracy and completeness.
• Process new hires, employee status changes, terminations, and payroll adjustments.
• Support payroll audits and reconcile discrepancies before payroll submission.
• Coordinate with internal payroll specialists to ensure timely and accurate payroll processing.
• Maintain payroll records while ensuring confidentiality and compliance with applicable wage and hour laws.
• Respond to client payroll inquiries in a professional and timely manner.
• Salary Range: $60,000 – $90,000 annually (commensurate with experience).
