Job summary

St. Vincent de Paul of Alameda County is seeking a Director of Human Resources to lead and transform the HR function across Oakland and regional operations. You will advise leadership, oversee HR staff, and ensure compliant, strategic people practices aligned with our mission.

The role requires SHRM certification, a California HR leadership background, and a commitment to an inclusive workplace. In-office in Oakland with one remote day per week; full benefits included.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in HR, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or related field
• Deep expertise in California employment law, Cal/OSHA requirements, wage and hour regulations
• Demonstrated supervisory experience of HR staff
• SHRM certification (SHRM-CP/SCP)
• Exceptional communication, judgment, and confidentiality

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic direction and daily leadership for the HR function.
• Supervise and mentor the HR Manager.
• Advise leadership on staffing, performance management, culture, and org design.
• Promote an inclusive, professional workplace grounded in dignity and respect.
• Coordinate HR operations across locations including regional thrift stores.
