Job summary

Youth Homes, Inc. in Contra Costa seeks an experienced Human Resources Director to join our executive leadership team.

This exempt hybrid role guides HR strategy across programs, administration, and retail operations, partnering with leaders to recruit, develop, and engage staff who serve youth and families. The starting salary range is $94,921 to $105,837 per year, and the role requires a minimum three days per week in the office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in HR, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or related field.
• Five+ years of progressive HR experience with 3+ years in management/leadership.
• Experience in employee relations, talent acquisition, HR compliance, and performance management.
• Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws and HR compliance.
• Experience creating HR policies, procedures, and employee handbooks.

Responsibilities

• Provide HR leadership across the organization, guiding employee relations, policy interpretation, and performance management.
• Oversee benefits administration, including health insurance, retirement plans, disability, workers' comp, and leaves.
• Lead recruitment for program, administrative, and retail roles and develop retention strategies.
• Ensure compliance with COA standards and maintain HR records and HRIS data.
• Coach managers, support investigations, and promote a respectful workplace culture.
• Partner with payroll to ensure accurate compensation changes and processing.
• Support accreditation activities and audits as needed.
• Develop staff through mentorship and ongoing professional development.
• Manage compliance with wage and hour laws, leave laws, and timekeeping practices.
