Job summary

Stormont Vail Health is seeking a medical coder to review medical record documentation and assign ICD-10-CM diagnoses, CPT procedures, and DRG codes across hospital services. The role includes chart abstraction, regulatory compliance, and collaboration with the CDI team using the EMR system.

Requires RHIA/RHIT/CCS or CPC credentials, strong knowledge of medical terminology and coding guidelines, and experience with EMR.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma / GED required.
• 2 years coding experience preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and coding guidelines required.

Responsibilities

• Selects and assigns ICD-10-CM diagnosis, procedure and CPT codes according to guidelines.
• Ensures appropriate MS-DRG/APR DRG is assigned.
• Uses EMR/EHR to enter key clinical data into the system.
• Complies with coding policies and payer guidelines.
• Collaborates with CDI team and submits queries to physicians as needed.
• Maintains productivity and accuracy in coding responsibilities.
