Job summary

Aurora is hiring a Staff Hardware Reliability Engineer in Pittsburgh to lead reliability testing and validation for automotive drive-by-wire systems. You’ll collaborate with HW, electrical, firmware, mechanical, software, and manufacturing teams to ensure overall system reliability and drive improvements across Aurora’s hardware stack.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Robotics, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years in hardware reliability engineering, preferably in automotive/aerospace/HDV.
• Strong knowledge of reliability testing methods (HALT/HASS, vibration, thermal cycling).
• Experience leading root cause analysis and corrective actions (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone).
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Proficiency in Python and data analysis tools; familiarity with reliability tools (Weibull++, dFMEA).

Responsibilities

• Lead hardware reliability testing and validation for automotive drive-by-wire systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners to ensure system reliability.
• Develop, implement and monitor reliability testing protocols (stress and environmental tests).
• Analyze failure data to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Create detailed reports and present findings to drive hardware improvements and risk decisions.
• Mentor reliability engineers and promote best practices across teams.
