Job summary

Aurora is seeking a Staff Hardware Reliability Engineer to lead reliability testing for automotive drive-by-wire hardware, including ECUs, actuators, and motors. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external partners to ensure robust, safe, and durable hardware that meets automotive standards.

You will develop and monitor test protocols (HALT/HASS, vibration, thermal cycling), analyze failure data, and drive corrective actions while mentoring junior engineers and advancing

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Robotics (preferred), Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years in hardware reliability engineering, preferably in automotive, aerospace, or heavy‑duty vehicle industries.
• Strong knowledge of reliability testing methods (HALT/HASS, vibration, thermal cycling, humidity) and failure analysis techniques.
• Experience with joint development partners and HW/SW interactions; ability to lead RCA and corrective actions (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone).
• Excellent communication and data analysis skills; proficient with Python and reliability tools (Weibull++, dFMEA).

Responsibilities

• Lead hardware reliability testing and validation for automotive drive-by-wire systems (ECUs, actuators, motors).
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners to ensure overall system reliability.
• Develop, implement, and monitor reliability testing protocols including stress and environmental tests.
• Analyze failure data to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Create reports on testing outcomes and present findings to drive hardware improvements.
• Drive continuous improvement in hardware design to meet automotive reliability standards.
• Mentor reliability engineers and promote best practices across teams.
