Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to support mining operations with site investigations, stability analyses, and design of ground supports. The role combines field assessments with office analysis to ensure safe extraction and stable infrastructure.

You will monitor ground conditions, prepare technical reports, and collaborate with planners and construction teams to implement geotechnical solutions. A minimum of five years' mining-geotechnical experience is required.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Mining Engineering, or Geotechnical Engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, with mining exposure.
• Proficiency in geotechnical analysis software (Rocscience Suite, FLAC).
• Experience with site investigation techniques and laboratory test interpretation.
• Strong understanding of rock mechanics, soil mechanics, and engineering geology.
• Excellent report writing and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed geotechnical investigations and site characterization for mining projects.
• Perform stability analyses for open pits, underground excavations, and tailings storage facilities.
• Design and specify ground support systems including rock bolts, shotcrete, and retaining structures.
• Monitor ground conditions using instrumentation and data acquisition systems.
• Prepare geotechnical reports, recommendations, and design drawings.
• Collaborate with mine planners, engineers, and construction teams to implement geotechnical solutions.
