Job summary

American Family Insurance Group is seeking a 2027 Summer GenAI/ML Intern for a hybrid role based in Madison, WI. The internship offers hands-on experience building ML applications, data preparation, and software development support across IT and analytics teams.

Ideal candidates are pursuing a BS/MS/PhD in CS, Data Science, AI or related fields, with at least 24 credit hours completed and strong analytical and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree while enrolled full-time or per university co-op
• Must have completed at least 24 semester hours before starting first work term
• Preferred programs: CS, CE, Software Eng, Data Science, AI or related fields
• Experience in application support, software development, data analytics, ML, IT support, systems administration or related tech is a plus
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are preferred

Responsibilities

• Develop an understanding of the organization’s business environment to support work initiatives
• Build and develop ML applications to address business problems
• Assist with data cleaning, preparation, and analysis
• Present project results to management and department personnel
• Stay up to date on current ML and emerging tech trends
• Participate in projects related to application support, software development, IT operations, system enhancements, and technology solutions
• Other duties as assigned
