Job summary

Barnes & Noble Education seeks a Manager, Gross Margin Analytics to join our FP&A team and drive gross margin performance across BNED and its family of brands. You will own margin reporting, validate data, and collaborate with finance and business leaders to identify key drivers and opportunities.

This role leads budgeting for COGS, develops quarterly projections, supports close processes, and improves reporting through AI-enabled tools and automation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or related field.
• 7–10 years of relevant finance, FP&A or related experience; retail experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of gross margin, COGS, budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; Oracle experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Own monthly gross margin reporting and commentary across BNED brands.
• Develop detailed COGS budget with monthly and product-level assumptions.
• Develop quarterly gross margin projections and communicate risks and opportunities.
• Support month-end close and investigate variances in margin and inventory data.
• Serve as FP&A SME for gross margin definitions, calculations, and performance.
• Prepare margin analysis for leadership including Board presentations.
