Job summary

Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP is seeking a Financial Systems Manager to lead the Finance systems team and oversee key applications across the firm. The role supports end‑to‑end system administration, upgrades, testing, and user support in a high‑volume environment.

Based in Dallas, New York, or Washington, DC with hybrid work, the position requires strong SQL, Aderant Expert expertise, and experience managing people or projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, computer systems or a related field is required.
• 5–7 years of relevant experience, including at least 3 years of people or project management responsibility.
• Experience with Aderant Expert and advanced customization tools (Docudraft, Design Studio, End User Painter, Security Manager).
• Strong SQL, data integrity and reporting skills (SSRS/SSIS, T-SQL).
• Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office; excellent communication and leadership abilities.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and mentor Financial Systems team members and conduct annual appraisals.
• Provide guidance to staff and support staff development.
• Manage and maintain the firm’s financial systems (Aderant Expert and related tools).
• Oversee system security, performance, data integrity, user experience, and engagements.
• Evaluate business needs for new technology solutions and drive innovations.
• Participate in new system development and vendor collaborations.
• Manage upgrades, patches, testing, and test strategies.
• Assist with project management of new developments and implementations.
• Coordinate month-end closing activities and interfaces between financial databases.
• Create/document processes and provide training to finance users.
