Job summary

Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP is seeking a Financial Systems Manager to oversee its financial applications in a hybrid work setting across Dallas, New York, or Washington, DC. You will lead the Financial Systems team, coordinate with IT and vendors, and drive system upgrades and process improvements.

The role requires strong leadership, excellent communication, and deep experience with Aderant Expert and SQL-based tools to support the firm’s attorneys and staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, computer systems or a related field.
• Minimum of 5–7 years of relevant experience with at least 3 years in people or project management.
• Experience with Aderant Expert and customization tools.
• Advanced MS SQL Server, T-SQL, SSRS, SSIS and VBA knowledge.
• Strong communication, leadership and problem solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and support Financial Systems team members and conduct annual appraisals.
• Provide guidance and staff development within the department.
• Manage and maintain Aderant Expert and related systems.
• Oversee system performance, data integrity, and end-user experience.
• Assist with new technology evaluations and process improvements.
• Participate in new system development and vendor consultations.
• Manage system upgrades, tests, and change control activities.
• Support month-end closing duties and interface management.
• Draft documentation and provide user training for finance staff.
• Act as liaison between Finance, IT, vendors and third parties.
