Job summary

SOCOTEC, Inc. in Dallas seeks a motivated Consultant to join our Building Envelope / Facade Performance team, assisting a Senior Managing Director in resolving complex issues related to facades, watertightness, moisture intrusion, and mold in real estate assets.

Qualifications

• 2-4 years of relevant professional experience in facade or building envelope related firms or engineering firms.
• Degree in Architecture, Structural Engineering, Mechanical/HVAC Engineering, or related field.
• Genuine interest in building envelope performance, watertightness, moisture control, and mold-related issues in real estate.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to interpret technical drawings and specs.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to produce client-ready reports.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize with limited supervision, and elevate issues when needed.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Willingness to travel for site visits/field investigations.

Responsibilities

• Assist in investigation, diagnosis, and resolution of facade, building envelope, watertightness, moisture, and mold issues for real estate clients.
• Support site visits, field investigations, and visual/physical assessments of building envelope conditions.
• Review architectural, structural, and MEP/HVAC drawings to identify deficiencies contributing to moisture or envelope failures.
• Analyze building science data and contribute to root-cause analysis.
• Prepare technical reports, findings summaries, and remediation recommendations under guidance of Senior Managing Director.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including architects, structural and HVAC engineers, and facade specialists.
• Communicate with clients to gather information, clarify issues, and present findings.
• Stay current on building codes, standards related to facade design and moisture management.
• Manage multiple projects with limited supervision while keeping leadership informed.
