Job summary

AARP is seeking an Experience Designer (Advisor) to define scalable design systems and templates that shape how experiences work across channels and touchpoints. The role emphasizes service, journey, and interaction design, beyond technical product development, while ensuring accessibility and compliance in all designs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Human-Centered Design, UX, Interaction Design, Service Design, Graphic Design, Communications, or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in experience design, UX, service design, customer experience, digital product design, or related discipline.
• Experience applying human-centered design methodologies to develop user flows, interaction models, and scalable design solutions across channels.
• Translate business objectives and user needs into intuitive, measurable experience designs.
• Experience creating and maintaining design systems, templates, standards, and reusable frameworks.
• Strong collaboration with cross-functional teams throughout the design process.
• Incorporate accessibility, usability, compliance, and performance requirements into designs.
• Use consumer feedback, testing results, analytics, and metrics to validate decisions.

Responsibilities

• Partners across design phases from discovery to feasible concepts and supports experience plans.
• Designs experience flows, logic, and transitions into coherent, scalable models.
• Contributes to governance of experience frameworks, patterns, and templates for consistency.
• Ensures designs are testable, measurable, and operationalized with performance in mind.
• Aligns journeys with business priorities and feasibility for future-state designs.
• Applies established experience principles and guardrails across digital and non-digital experiences.
