Job summary

LAC Federal is seeking a full-time, entry-level Reference Librarian in the Washington, DC metropolitan area for a hybrid role with on-site presence 1–2 days per week to cover the reference desk.

The position supports daily library operations, including reference and research assistance, collection development, and collaborative library projects. It offers hands-on experience for MLIS students and recent graduates in a specialized library setting.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Library/Information Science or current enrollment in such a program.

Responsibilities

• Provide reference services to patrons via in-person, phone, or email.
• Provide desk coverage during scheduled hours (in-person and remote).
• Participate in collection development and resource selection for the library.
• Assist with literature searches and bibliometric projects.
• Collaborate on internal library website content and other assigned tasks.
• Support other duties as assigned by the project manager.
