Job summary

General Motors Company is seeking a 2027 Summer Intern to join the Energy and Propulsion Controls team. You will support researchers and engineers working on advanced vehicle energy-management, propulsion-control, and thermal-management technologies, with a focus on translating research into vehicle-level concepts and implementations.

You will gain experience linking control strategies with batteries, power electronics, electric machines, propulsion systems, and vehicle-level energy

Qualifications

• Pursuing an advanced degree (MS or PhD) in an engineering discipline.
• Able to work fulltime during the summer (40 hours/week).
• Willing to work in a laboratory, test, or vehicle-development environment.

Responsibilities

• Support ongoing research related to energy management, propulsion controls, and thermal management.
• Develop, evaluate, and document control strategies for battery, power electronics, electric machines, and thermal systems.
• Assist with control-strategy verification and validation through test-case development and data analysis.
• Create plots, dashboards, and technical summaries to communicate findings to stakeholders.
• Collaborate with researchers and engineers to define questions and next steps.
