Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Research and Development Intern in Power Electronics & Energy Conversion Systems. You will support advanced research in power conversion, electric-drive systems, and energy‑conversion architectures, contributing to circuit analysis, modeling, prototyping, and experimental validation.

Work will involve bench experiments, data analysis, documentation, and collaboration with cross‑functional teams to improve efficiency, performance, and system integration in GM’s

Qualifications

Currently pursuing a Master’s or Ph.D. in electrical engineering, power electronics, energy conversion, or related fields.
Willing to commit to full‑time, 40 hours per week, for the summer internship.
Able to work in a laboratory/engineering environment with safety in mind.

Responsibilities

Support research and development projects in power electronics, energy conversion, and vehicle electrification.
Contribute to concept generation and evaluation of circuits, converters, inverters, and gate drives.
Develop models and simulations to evaluate switching behavior, losses, and thermal performance.
Assist with prototype hardware design, schematics, PCBs, and hardware-in-the-loop experiments.
Document results, prepare technical reports, and present findings to the team.
