Job summary

Qualifications

• Pursuit of an advanced degree (MS or PhD) in electrical, mechanical, controls, computer, chemical, systems, aerospace engineering, or related field.
• Ability to work fulltime, 40 hours per week during the summer months.

Responsibilities

• Support ongoing research assignments related to energy management, propulsion controls, thermal management, and vehicle-level control coordination.
• Develop, evaluate, and document control strategies for battery, power electronics, electric machines, drive units, charging systems, and related thermal systems.
• Assist with vehicle implementation of thermal-management research, including control logic for coolant pumps, valves, compressors, heaters, fans, shutters, and other actuators.
• Develop or modify models to study battery, propulsion, and thermal-system behavior under representative operating conditions.
• Run simulations and analyze system behavior across drive cycles, ambient conditions, and charging scenarios.
• Document requirements, control logic, interfaces, calibration parameters, and test procedures; create plots and dashboards for stakeholders.
• Collaborate with researchers to define questions, plan analyses, review results, and propose next steps.
• Present progress and findings in team reviews and incorporate feedback into follow-on work.
