Job summary

General Motors Company is seeking a 2027 Summer Intern to assist the Energy and Propulsion Controls team. You will work on energy-management, propulsion-control, and thermal-management technologies, translating research into vehicle-level concepts and simulations.

The role involves developing control strategies, building models, running simulations, and collaborating with researchers across controls, thermal, and vehicle teams. Hybrid work in Warren, MI is anticipated during the summer program.

Qualifications

• Pursuit of an advanced degree (MS or PhD) in an engineering discipline.
• Willing to work fulltime, 40 hours per week during the summer months.
• Laboratory/engineering environment experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support energy management, propulsion controls, and thermal management research.
• Develop and document control strategies for battery, power electronics, and thermal systems.
• Create models and run simulations across drive cycles and operating conditions.
• Analyze sensor/actuator data to identify trends and issues.
• Prepare technical summaries, plots, and dashboards for stakeholders.
