Job summary

BHMG Engineers Inc. is seeking a Designer to support electric distribution line design from planning to final deliverables. You will route, model, and draft using industry tools, ensuring compliance with client standards and regulatory criteria.

Strong coordination and communication are essential. Qualifications include a degree in Drafting or Engineering Technology and 5+ years of relevant experience, with proficiency in PLS-CADD, AutoCAD, MicroStation, and GIS.

Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology, or related field.
• Typically 5+ years of relevant experience in electric distribution line design or drafting.
• Experience coordinating permitting processes (DOT, railroad, airport/FAA, local authorities).

Responsibilities

• Determine optimal distribution line routes, ROW requirements, and structure configurations for overhead and underground systems.
• Complete initial field surveys and organize data for use in design activities.
• Incorporate survey, real estate, environmental, and permitting requirements into designs.
• Build, review, and analyze distribution models using PLS-CADD or other tools.
• Perform design calculations and compliance checks per NESC, RUS, client standards.
• Prepare construction drawings, BOMs, and data entry into client systems.
• Prepare equipment, major material, and construction specifications.
• Manage design deliverables, submittals, and client documentation requirements.
• Assist engineers with field staking and construction support.
