Job summary

Akima Systems Engineering (ASE) is seeking a Project Manager to lead a portfolio of DoD and commercial projects from Suffolk, VA. This hybrid role involves day-to-day execution, customer relationships, financial performance, staffing, subcontractor coordination, and contract compliance across multiple active projects.

The successful candidate will manage do-to-day project execution, mentor junior staff, and work with Akima leadership to grow into larger programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, IT, Project Management, or related discipline.
• Active Secret security clearance required.
• 5+ years of project or program management experience, preferably DoD or Federal Government.
• Ability to manage multiple projects/workstreams simultaneously.
• Experience managing project cost, schedule, staffing, risks, and customer relationships.
• Working knowledge of Government contracting and project financial management.
• Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to travel as project requirements dictate.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day activities for a moderately complex Technical or non-technical project.
• Lead administrative/operational aspects within program guidelines.
• Monitor scope, schedule, and budget to ensure control.
• Coordinate resources and ensure timely reviews and approvals.
• Conduct analyses to inform future projects and programs.
• Oversee DoD project execution across cost, schedule, scope, and quality.
• Interface with Government customers, prime contractors, CORs, and stakeholders.
• Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, staffing, risks, and performance metrics.
