Job summary

State of Colorado, Disability Determination Services, is seeking Disability Examiners to gather medical information and determine eligibility for SSDI/SSI benefits. You will analyze medical evidence, prepare rationales, and document decisions using SSA/DDS software.

The role combines on-site and remote work with training and collaboration with medical consultants. Applicants should have strong medical terminology knowledge, solid communication skills, and the ability to work in a regulated

Qualifications

• Four (4) years of relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned to this position
• A combination of related education and/or relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned equal to four (4) years
• Experience in an industry, professional environment, or government that is highly regulated where a person has to evaluate and apply policy will substitute for the degree on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

• Adjudication and Documentation: determines medical eligibility for disability benefits by gathering, evaluating and analyzing medical and non-medical data.
• Development: Interviews applicants and professionals to obtain necessary information and explains disability programs to applicants.
• Experience Only: Performs data entry and uses SSA/DDS software programs to document decisions and prepare medical/psychological assessments.
• Documentation: Prepares medically and legally sufficient rationale to justify disability determinations and communicates decisions to applicants and stakeholders.
