Job summary

Colorado Department of Human Services Disability Determination Services seeks Disability Examiners to determine medical eligibility for disability benefits under SSA rules. You will gather medical evidence, analyze data, and document rationales to support determinations.

This hybrid position involves interviewing claimants, collaborating with medical consultants, and using SSA/DDS software to record findings.

Qualifications

• Four years of relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned.
• A combination of related education and/or relevant experience equal to four years.
• Substitutions allowed for regulatory experience for degree.
• Knowledge of medical terminology; proficiency with basic software and email; keyboarding; strong written/oral communication; organization; customer service; sound decision-making; ability to work with diverse groups.

Responsibilities

• Adjudication and documentation of medical eligibility under SSDI/SSI programs.
• Interviews with claimants and professionals to obtain necessary information.
• Prepare medically and legally sufficient rationales and document decisions in SSA/DDS systems.
• Coordinate with DDS medical consultants and comply with SSA rules and directives.
