Job summary

State of New Hampshire is seeking a Disability Examiner in Concord, NH. The role involves applying SSA policies to develop and evaluate medical and non-medical data for disability benefits determinations, and preparing entitlement determinations under Titles II and XVI.

Training will be provided to adjudicate various claim types. The position requires an Associate's degree with relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and work experience, plus a valid driver's license for

Qualifications

• Associate's degree and 3 years of experience OR equivalent combination of 5 years of education and experience after completion of high school.
• Education and experience must be in social work, counseling, education, psychology/sociology, law, human services, vocational rehabilitation, nursing or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Investigates and develops medical and vocational evidence to document the basis for initial disability claims and develops additional evidence to determine continued eligibility for benefits.
• Analyzes, interprets and evaluates all factors in compliance with extensive professional federal program standards to determine to achieve sound programmatic determinations of eligibility and/or continued entitlement to Social Security benefits.
• Identifies the need, and requests approval for authorization for appropriate medical, psychiatric, and psychological examinations.
• Summarizes medical and vocational data and prepares an assessment of residual functional capacity and/or identifies those individuals whose medical conditions meet or approximate the level of severity contained in the Social Security Listing of Medical Impairments.
• Prepares a disability decision, containing a summary of the allegations, medical and vocational data integrated with educational levels and age, legal standards to support a finding of eligibility or continued entitlement to eligibility for benefits.

Education
