Job summary

PenFed Credit Union is seeking aDirector, Compensation for a hybrid role at our Tysons, Virginia location. You will lead the compensation function, designing and administering programs and the job architecture to support organizational design, internal equity, and regulatory compliance.

In this role you will manage and mentor the compensation team, oversee data analysis for planning and incentive plans, and drive governance of job architecture, ensuring market competitiveness and scalable

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in HR or related field.
• 8–10 years progressive compensation experience with 3 years in a financial institution.
• 2–4 years in a management role with proven leadership.
• Experience implementing Workday and Salary.com preferred.
• Experience using AI to streamline compensation processes preferred.
• Strong MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Manage all compensation programs, policies, and procedures across PenFed and affiliated businesses.
• Lead the Compensation Team on data prep and analysis for workforce planning and merit/incentive/bonus plans.
• Directly manage and mentor compensation analysts.
• Design and implement compensation strategies and new programs based on business and market needs.
• Develop and govern PenFed's job architecture including job families and career levels.
• Collaborate with leaders to ensure plans align with objectives and market competitiveness.
• Advise senior managers on salary classifications and job content issues.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
• Coordinate programs, studies, and initiatives to improve efficiency and productivity.
• Collect and interpret compensation data to determine PenFed's competitive position.
