Job summary

Youth Guidance Kansas City is seeking a Director of Development to serve as a compelling ambassador in partnership with the Executive Director. The role leads a comprehensive fundraising strategy to sustain and scale programs, building relationships with individuals, corporations, and foundations while expanding government contracts.

Reporting to the Executive Director with a dotted-line to the National Director of Development, this position is hybrid, combining office and community work in

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of professional fundraising experience.
• Experience in youth development, human services, and/or K-12 education sectors preferred.
• Experience engaging with Kansas City area funders and community-based organizations.
• Experience leveraging a fundraising CRM to drive moves management and strategy (Salesforce a plus).
• Superior writing skills for grant proposals, reports, briefs, and presentations.
• Hybrid office environment experience and collaboration across teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop and direct the annual development plan and fundraising goals.
• Build donor relationships and expand government contracts and philanthropic support.
• Engage Advisory Council to increase resources, visibility, and partnerships.
• Oversee portfolio of foundation, corporate, and individual prospects; move relationships to solicitation.
• Oversee government relations and public sector funding opportunities.
• Manage grants calendar, proposal development, budgeting, and reporting.
• Lead donor engagement and cultivation in collaboration with the Executive Director.
• Stay updated on local context and trends in youth development.
• Collaborate with Senior Leadership and Marketing/Communications on annual fundraising strategy.
