Job summary

City Year Kansas City is seeking a Development Director to lead fundraising and external relations, including the annual gala. Reporting to the Executive Director, you will drive private and public revenue, align with HQ support, and manage the Development Events & Operations Manager.

You will cultivate relationships with corporations, foundations, high-net-worth individuals, other local businesses, and media to maximize resources and awareness, helping City Year reach its private revenue goal

Qualifications

• 5-8 years of progressive fundraising/development experience with a track record that includes multi-year giving.
• Experience leading a large-scale annual fundraising event.
• Solid, persuasive writing and communications skills.
• Knowledge of donor outreach and partnership development is essential.

Responsibilities

• Lead the implementation of fundraising and external relations strategy for City Year Kansas City, including the annual gala.
• Manage relationships with philanthropic corporations, foundations, high-net-worth individuals, and media partners to maximize resources and visibility.
• Oversee Development Events & Operations Manager and ensure private revenue goals (approx. $1.6M) and overall budget (~$3.2M) are met.
• Collaborate with City Year Headquarters and local advisory board to support fundraising efforts.
