Job summary

General Motors in the United States is seeking a seating systems engineer responsible for requirements definition, design, development, product release, launch, and technical leadership for seating components including head restraints, armrests, and seat heating/ventilation systems.

Candidates should hold a BS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, have automotive seating experience, and be able to travel up to 10%.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Experience in automotive seat development, engineering, manufacturing or operations.
• Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle and travel up to 10%.

Responsibilities

• Develop, refine and finalize design criteria using vehicle math data.
• Define interface control document requirements and negotiate interfaces.
• Lead design reviews and ensure fidelity to program requirements.
• Lead or support product development team activities including timing, BOMs and DF Manufacturing.
• Release production designs on schedule and verify 100% design fidelity.
• Communicate technical information across internal teams, suppliers and plants.
• Lead launch activities for new vehicle programs at GM plants and suppliers.
