Job summary

Ford Motor Company in Dearborn, MI is seeking a Product Development Engineer to design, develop and launch complete seat systems. You will manage quality, weight, cost, and timing across the GPDS from concept to Job 1, coordinating with multiple internal teams and suppliers to ensure design intent and regulatory compliance.

The role requires CAD prowess (Teamcenter, CATIA, SolidWorks) and experience in seat systems, with hybrid work arrangements and a salary range reflective of grade 6–8.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
• 2+ years of experience with complete seat systems and/or components in automotive domain or similar.
• 2D/3D CAD capability on parametric software and Teamcenter, VisMockup, CATIA, Solid Edge, Solid Works, or equivalent.
• Proficiency in MS Office applications, including MS Project.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, release, and launch seat systems or components through Ford's GPDS, from PRE-PSC to J1.
• Manage Quality, Weight, Cost, and Timing for assigned parts throughout the product lifecycle.
• Lead program-related meetings and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders.
• Develop and execute DVPs and ensure compliance with SDS and Federal Regulations.
• Create and maintain a detailed timing/Gantt chart (PDP) for assigned parts and projects.
• Document recurrence prevention actions and lessons learned for the Core team.
• Coordinate with Seat Complete, Seat Structure, Studio, VO, Suppliers, Purchasing, and Program teams.
• Lead integration of seating components into the seat system and manage CAD/BOM for releases.
• Utilize Ford PLM processes for check-in/check-out, version control, data release, and change management.
• Perform feasibility analyses using CAD tools for manufacturability (draft angle, undercut, bend radius, clearances).
