Job summary

The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center is seeking a Data Security Engineer to architect, implement, and maintain robust security configurations across our enterprise data platform. This hybrid role requires expertise in data engineering and advanced data security architecture, with a remote-friendly setup for candidates in the Dallas area.

Responsibilities include designing IAM/RBAC, applying DSPM, DLP, and data governance tools, and ensuring compliance and secure data transfer

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in CS, data engineering, cybersecurity, or related field.
• 5 years of professional experience in data engineering or information security.
• Experience securing large-scale data platforms.

Responsibilities

• Define and enforce the security posture of the data ecosystem and contribute to core architecture.
• Design and manage security configurations for the data platform using Azure Purview, DLP, and DSPM.
• Define IAM/RBAC policies across data environments to enforce least privilege.
• Embed security into data ingestion and processing pipelines.
• Establish safety protocols and governance across the data lifecycle.
• Ensure compliance with SOPs and security policies.
• Conduct vulnerability testing and incident response activities.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
