Job summary

Urban Science, a data-driven automotive business partner in Detroit, seeks a Data Engineering Manager to lead Global Data Services. You will own data platforms, drive architecture, and deliver reliable, scalable data solutions for products, analytics, and clients.

This senior role combines leadership with hands-on engineering; hybrid work with in-person two days weekly at the Detroit, MI office. Immigration sponsorship is not offered for this role.

Qualifications

• Proven leadership and ability to mentor engineers and manage projects.
• Strong experience with SQL and relational databases, especially SQL Server.
• Deep understanding of data modeling, ETL/ELT, data integration, and modern data architectures.
• Knowledge of distributed systems, APIs, microservices, and enterprise integration patterns.
• Hands-on programming with Python or C#.
• Strong software engineering practices: CI/CD, testing, version control, and operational support.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor Data Engineering team members and manage performance and staffing needs.
• Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and platforms; own critical data processing capabilities.
• Ensure reliable day-to-day data operations, production processing, and incident management.
• Drive automation, modernization, and data governance across data platforms and processes.
• Contribute to technology strategy and engineering standards across the organization.
