Ascend Learning is seeking a Director of Data Engineering to lead a team responsible for scalable data infrastructure, pipelines, and quality measures across the enterprise. You will partner with business leadership to align data initiatives with strategic goals and champion modern data technologies.

The role requires building strong teams, driving governance, and delivering cross-functional data solutions that create competitive advantage. Hybrid work is offered from multiple US locations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• 7–10 years of relevant data engineering/architecture experience.
• Proven experience leading technical teams and communicating with executives.
• Track record delivering enterprise data projects and data-driven value.
• Experience with data platforms, pipelines, and governance in business contexts.
• Familiarity with BI/analytics tools and modern AI platforms.

Responsibilities

• Build, mentor, and oversee data engineering teams including data engineers, senior data engineers, and data architects.
• Drive technical strategy and alignment with business goals across data infrastructure and pipelines.
• Manage end-to-end data engineering projects from conception to deployment within timelines and budgets.
• Collaborate with business and BI teams to promote data-driven decision making.
• Establish robust data governance, privacy, quality, and lineage practices.
