Job summary

CNA Financial invites talented students to join its Tech Summer Internship Program in Chicago for a 10–12 week data engineering rotation. You will work on building data processing systems and data lakes on Google Cloud Platform, applying Python/SQL skills, and learning Agile practices alongside CNA engineers.

Eligible students are pursuing CS/IT, with a minimum 3.0 GPA, and an interest in the insurance industry.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (sophomore to senior undergrad or first-year Master’s).
• Minimum 3.00 GPA (overall and major).
• Working knowledge of relational databases.
• 1+ years of coding in Python, R, or SQL.
• Interest in the Insurance Industry; some prior work experience preferred.
• Ability to work both independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Participate in design, development, and integration of data applications across the software lifecycle.
• Contribute to building large-scale data processing systems and data lakes on Google Cloud Platform.
• Apply data modeling best practices and engineering standards.
• Learn Agile programming methodology and collaborate with CNA developers.
• Gain exposure to CNA’s business and technology landscape and potential for full-time placement after graduation.
