Job summary

Brooks Automation is seeking a Systems Software Engineer to develop next-generation controls software, verify design, and test across vacuum systems and components. You will streamline configuration, calibration, and testing, and build routines for automatic data collection and analysis.

The role also includes supporting Manufacturing and maintaining process documentation, with potential motion control tuning and servo characterization. A relevant degree and 2+ years of C++/C# are expected.

Qualifications

• Degree in EE or CS with 5+ years experience, or MS with 3+ years.
• 2+ years of C/C++ programming.
• Experience with electro-mechanical systems preferred.
• Familiarity with EtherCAT, gRPC, Python, PLCs and RTOS preferred.
• Related coursework or research in controls, dynamics, or robotics.
• Ability to learn complex systems quickly and work independently.
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent technical communication and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop next-generation controls software and verify its design.
• Test software on vacuum systems and components deployed in the field.
• Streamline configuration, calibration, and testing; develop data routines.
• Support Manufacturing and maintain process documentation.
• May include motion control tuning and servo performance characterization.
