Job summary

Brooks Automation is seeking a Systems Software Engineer to develop next-generation controls software, verify design, and test across vacuum systems and components. You will streamline configuration, calibration, and testing, and build routines for automatic data collection and analysis.

The role also includes supporting Manufacturing and maintaining process documentation, with potential motion control tuning and servo characterization. A relevant degree and 2+ years of C++/C# are expected.

Qualifications

• Degree in EE or CS with 5+ years experience, or MS with 3+ years.
• 2+ years of C/C++ programming.
• Experience with electro-mechanical systems preferred.
• Familiarity with EtherCAT, gRPC, Python, PLCs and RTOS preferred.
• Related coursework or research in controls, dynamics, or robotics.
• Ability to learn complex systems quickly and work independently.
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent technical communication and presentation skills.

Systems Software Engineer

Job Description

• Responsibilities include developing next-generation controls software, verifying its design, and testing its quality on various vacuum systems and components to which it has been deployed.
• Will also be responsible for streamlining or automating configuration, calibration and testing vacuum components, as well as the development of routines for automatic data collection and analysis.
• Will include supporting Manufacturing and developing/maintaining/releasing process documentation.
• May include motion control tuning, characterizing servo performance and stability, and characterizing payload vibration

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

• BSEE / BSCS or similar with a minimum of 5 years of experience OR MSEE / MSCS or similar with a minimum of 3 years of experience.
• Minimum of 2 years of C++ or C# programming expertise.
• Experience with electro-mechanical systems preferred.
• Experience with EtherCAT, gRPC, Python, PLCs, RTOS preferred.
• Related coursework, experience or research in controls, and/or dynamic systems, or robotics.
• Ability to learn complex systems quickly and work independently.
• Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent technical communication and presentation skills.

Compensation

Base Salary Range: $105,593.46 USD to $142,861.74 USD

Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.
