Job summary

Nextera Search is assisting a financial services firm in New York City in finding an experienced Controller to lead accounting and reporting for investment funds. The role requires close collaboration with fund administrators, auditors, and tax advisors, ensuring compliance with US GAAP and timely investor reporting.

The ideal candidate will have 7–12 years of progressive accounting experience, a CPA preferred, and a strong background in fund accounting and public/private sector settings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• CPA designation strongly preferred.
• 7–12 years of progressive accounting experience in both public and private settings.
• Big Four public accounting experience is highly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of fund accounting, financial reporting, and U.S. GAAP.
• Experience preparing and reviewing financial statements and investor reporting.

Responsibilities

• Oversee third-party fund administrators responsible for accounting and financial reporting.
• Manage quarterly and annual close process with reviews of reports and reconciliations.
• Prepare and review quarterly and annual financial statements per U.S. GAAP.
• Review investor reporting materials including capital activity and fees.
• Coordinate with external service providers such as auditors and tax advisors.
• Support accounting and reporting for investment transactions and financing activities.
• Assist with debt reporting, covenant compliance, and lender requirements.
• Prepare financial analyses and reporting packages for leadership and lenders.
• Research technical accounting matters including fair value measurements.
