Job summary

Nextera Search seeks an experienced Fund Controller for a prominent investment management firm in New York City. You will oversee monthly and quarterly closes for multiple investment funds, ensuring accurate financial statements, NAV calculations, and timely investor reporting. The role requires 8–15 years in fund accounting, with strong knowledge of U.S.

GAAP and partnership accounting. Advanced Excel skills and experience with investment management systems are essential.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
8–15 years of accounting and financial reporting experience with fund and partnership exposure.
Experience in alternative investments, asset management, private funds, or related financial services environment.
Public accounting and/or fund administration experience strongly preferred.
Strong understanding of fund accounting, including financial reporting, NAV calculations, capital activity, allocations, and investor reporting.
Experience working with complex investment structures and multiple legal entities.
Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and partnership accounting.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience with accounting, financial reporting, or investment management systems.

Responsibilities

Oversee monthly and quarterly accounting close processes across investment funds and related entities, ensuring accurate and timely books and records.
Prepare and review financial statements, NAV calculations, capital account statements, and investor reporting.
Manage fund-level capital activity, including capital calls, distributions, subscriptions, and other investor transactions.
Maintain investor capital accounts and support the preparation of investor-level financial and performance reporting.
Monitor cash activity, liquidity, and funding requirements across investment vehicles.
Support accounting and reporting related to financing arrangements and other fund-level obligations.
Calculate and review management fees, incentive allocations, expense allocations, accruals, and other fund-related calculations.
Prepare and review fund performance reporting and related financial analysis.
Coordinate with internal teams, fund administrators, auditors, and other external service providers to support accounting and reporting requirements.
Maintain and enhance accounting processes, controls, and reporting procedures.
Assist senior management with financial analysis, special projects, and ad hoc reporting requests.
