Job summary

GFT is seeking a Construction Inspector II to join our Construction Services Team in North Carolina. You will oversee field inspections, material testing, and documentation to ensure adherence to plans, specifications, and safety standards while coordinating with clients and contractors.

The ideal candidate has 5–10 years of inspection experience, a safety-first mindset, and strong writing and communication skills to prepare reports, track pay estimates, and maintain daily logs in our electronic

Qualifications

5–10 years of construction inspection experience.
Experience in highway projects or transportation engineering preferred.
High safety standards and attention to quality.
Strong writing and communication skills for reports and client liaison.

Responsibilities

Measure distances to verify dimensions.
Verify levels, alignment, and elevation.
Observe work to ensure procedures and materials meet specifications.
Prepare samples for laboratory testing.
Examine workmanship and approve installations.
Interpret plans for Contractor and discuss deviations.
Record materials quantities and develop pay estimates and change orders.
Maintain daily construction and inspection logs.
Monitor multiple work activities and maintain safety practices.
Manage documents using electronic platforms such as AASHTOWare, e-Builder, or TRANSPORT.
