Job summary

The position offers hybrid work with 3 days in the office and 2 days remote, requires 2–3 years in commercial construction claims, and a claims adjuster license or eligibility. National US work authorization is noted.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
• Must have or be eligible to receive claims adjuster license.
• Completion of basic insurance courses or designation (INS, IEA, AIC, ARM, SCLA, CPCU).
• Minimum of 2–3 years’ experience in commercial construction.
• Knowledge of the insurance industry or claims handling is preferred.
• Hybrid work arrangement: 3 days in office, 2 days remote.

Responsibilities

• Analyzes coverage and communicates coverage positions
• Conducts, coordinates, and directs investigation into loss facts and extent of damages
• Confirms coverage by reviewing policies
• Drafts coverage position letters
• Evaluates information on coverage, liability, and damages to determine exposure
• Handles claims in all jurisdictions
• Handles property damage and bodily injury claims up to $250,000
• Represents Markel in mediations, as required
• Sets reserves within authority or advises manager
