Job summary

Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory invites qualified graduate students to join the Computing Summer Graduate Internship Program from May 17, 2027 through September 10, 2027. Interns will support projects in computational science, cyber defense, and numerical methods under guidance from scientists and engineers.

Openings emphasize hands-on research, collaboration in a hybrid schedule, and development of professional skills through seminars and poster presentations.

Qualifications

• Must be continuing college student in good standing pursuing a graduate degree by Fall 2027 in Computer Science, Mathematics, Data Science, Machine Learning, Cybersecurity, or other related STEM fields.
• GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Eligible to access the Laboratory in compliance with NDAA Section 3112.
• Ability to work in a team and communicate concepts clearly.
• Experience applying computational science and/or mathematical principles to technical problems.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical and/or research support to projects in computational science, cyber defense, computer science, numerical methods, mathematics, and related STEM disciplines.
• Support documentation, testing, creation or modification of Laboratory software, hardware, or operating systems.
• Conduct research in assigned area under limited direction and supervision.
• Perform technical assignments of basic to moderate complexity and provide technical support to scientists.
• Attend relevant seminars (at least one per week).
• Present work through presentations and/or poster sessions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
