Job summary

M&T Bank seeks a Compliance Testing Advisor to lead testing engagements, coach teams, and ensure regulatory compliance in a risk-based framework. You will oversee multiple testing portfolios, draft findings, and collaborate with business units to improve controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in related field plus 6 years’ experience in compliance, legal, audit, risk, or other relevant function, OR combined 10 years higher education and/or work experience including 6 years in compliance, legal, audit, risk or related function
• Experience coaching/leading teams in high-stakes environments
• Institutional Services/Wealth Management compliance experience preferred
• Experience building compliance/audit test scripts preferred
• Ability to read and understand laws, regulations, and common law applicable to subject matter
• Strong proficiency with spreadsheet, presentation, and word processing software

Responsibilities

• Interface with all organization layers to obtain information related to processes and controls
• Perform compliance testing per department standards
• Oversee planning and execution of testing across multiple engagements
• Ensure testing is completed within established timeframes and escalate delays
• Draft and communicate substantive testing findings and control weaknesses
• Lead testing discussions with management and compliance officers to validate issues
• Review test findings with management to confirm issue validity and tiering
• Collaborate with business units to ensure understanding of requirements
• System admin duties in Archer as needed
• Review team work papers and provide feedback and coaching
• Maintain working knowledge of regulatory requirements for testing
• Provide feedback on assessments of business unit processes and controls
• Document and assess test scripts
• Participate in special projects and department-wide initiatives
• Promote diversity and M&T Bank brand
