Job summary

M&T Bank is seeking a Compliance Testing Analyst II for a hybrid role requiring four days in-office at a corporate office with one day remote. The position supports lending activities across Mortgage, Consumer, Commercial, and Business Banking, assisting in risk-based compliance testing engagements.

The ideal candidate has a business-related degree or equivalent experience, strong regulatory knowledge, and solid communication and analytical skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a business related curriculum and a minimum 2 years' relevant work experience (Compliance, Audit or Risk Management), OR a combined minimum of 6 years’ higher education and/or work experience including 2 years’ relevant work experience.
• Fundamental understanding of financial services functions.
• Financial services industry experience, particularly within Mortgage, Consumer, Commercial, or Business Banking lending activities is highly preferred.
• Ability to thrive in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
• Strong interpersonal skills, having the ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Interface with several layers of the organization under minimal direction of a supervisor to obtain information related to processes and controls.
• Perform compliance testing in accordance with department and professional standards.
• Specific compliance testing responsibilities include planning and execution of control and substantive testing, review of testing, and evaluating results for weaknesses or exceptions.
• Organize and complete work within established timeframes under minimal direction of a supervisor, providing status updates.
• Participate in collaborative testing team discussions with management.
• Serve as a resource to junior members of the compliance team.
• Review test findings with testing management to confirm validity of issues.
• Maintain knowledge of regulatory requirements to perform appropriate testing.
• Assess business unit processes and controls and provide risk-focused input on testing approaches.
• Independently document higher level complexity test scripts.
• Participate in special projects as necessary.
• Multitask assignments and meet deadlines.
• Adhere to compliance/operational risk controls and company policies.
• Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
