Job summary

The Port of Portland is hiring a Community Affairs Business Partner to support Trade and Economic Development (TED). You will advise and connect the Port with businesses, public agencies, and community partners, shaping engagement strategies and strengthening relationships to advance economic development.

You will work across diverse projects, collaborating with Outreach and Education staff to deliver programs and partnerships that connect communities to Port opportunities, while aligning with

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Minimum six years' experience in community affairs or multi-sector initiatives.
  • Strong ability to build and maintain relationships with community partners.
  • Ability to represent organizational priorities credibly in public settings.
  • Effective in navigating diverse stakeholder perspectives and driving inclusive outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development of engagement plans and approaches for projects across divisions.
  • Lead public-facing engagements such as events, hearings, open houses, and community meetings.
  • Represent the Port in public venues and at external councils, coalitions and regional groups.
  • Identify opportunities for partnerships and multi-sector collaboration.
  • Gather and synthesize stakeholder feedback and bring insights into planning and decision-making.
  • Coach, mentor, and support staff and interns as assigned.
