Job summary

Consumers Credit Union in Lake Forest, IL is seeking a dependable Collector to join our Collections team. You will engage with members in early delinquency, explain options, and set up payment arrangements while maintaining accurate records.

The role emphasizes strong customer service, communication, and the ability to navigate sensitive conversations in a collaborative, team-driven environment. Hybrid onsite/remote work is available with regular daytime hours.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• 1 year minimum in banking, financial services, customer service, collections or related field; 4+ years preferred.
• Bi-lingual English and Spanish preferred.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Communicate professionally with members via inbound and outbound calls regarding past-due payments.
• Help members bring accounts current by explaining payment options and establishing arrangements.
• Educate members on online banking, payment tools, and available resources.
• Manage early-stage delinquent accounts for auto loans, credit cards, and HELOCs.
• Maintain documentation of member conversations, account status, and collection activity.
• Review queues and cases to keep follow-ups current.
• Assist with repossession-related cases, including member notification and options explained.
• Respond to collection-related emails promptly and professionally.
• Monitor member payment activity and share trends with management.
• Collaborate with other departments to improve processes and support organizational goals.
