Job summary

Smiths Group, via John Crane, is seeking a hybrid Operator/Programmer on our shop floor in Pasadena, TX. The role balances hands-on machining with programming duties to improve cycle times and machine utilization.

Key responsibilities include developing offline CNC programs for bottlenecks, troubleshooting program issues, and supporting new product introductions while maintaining high safety and quality standards. Flexibility for overtime is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent education.
• Experience working with Mazak milling machines.
• Must have proven ability to collaborate within teams and cross‑functionally.
• Associates or technical degree preferred.
• 3+ years’ work experience in manufacturing industry is preferred.
• Ability to work flexible hours and overtime as needed.
• Must be able to sit for extended periods of time; a minimum of 2 hours.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and resolve production program issues.
• Develop offline CNC programs for bottlenecks based on shop floor priorities.
• Support new product introductions and project-related programming activities.
• Improve programming efficiency to optimize cycle times and machine utilization.
• Set up and operate lathes, mills, and CNC machines safely and efficiently.
• Train and assist other CNC setup operators.
