Job summary
LA State Employees' Retirement System in Baton Rouge seeks an IT Technical Specialist 1 to safeguard LASERS’ mission-critical systems. You will oversee the network, server, and telephony infrastructure, with hands-on VMware server, SAN, and cloud services exposure in an enterprise environment.
Report to IT management and contribute to design, implementation, security, and disaster-recovery planning for a hybrid cloud ecosystem spanning on-premises infrastructure and Azure/Microsoft 365.
Qualifications
- Six years of experience in information technology; OR
- Six years of full-time work experience in any field plus four years of experience in information technology; OR
- An associate's degree in information technology plus four years of experience in information technology; OR
- A bachelor’s degree plus four years of experience in information technology; OR
- A bachelor’s degree with twenty-four semester hours in an information technology, computer science, engineering, mathematics, or business analytics field plus three years of experience in information technology; OR
- A master’s degree plus three years of experience in information technology.
Responsibilities
- Serves as a server administrator and technical specialist responsible for the design, implementation, security, and continuous operation of LASERS’ hybrid cloud environment, spanning on-premises server and storage infrastructure, Microsoft Azure, and Microsoft 365 cloud services.
- A typical week would involve server, SAN, telephony, and switch implementation, monitoring, enhancement, and troubleshooting, as well as updates to the environment.
