Job summary

Stanford University’s IT Hosting Services is hiring a Hosting Services Operations Engineer for hybrid cloud and data center work. You’ll support organization-level cloud operations, FinOps, and hands-on hardware in Stanford’s data centers to enable reliable research and enterprise services.

You will collaborate with security staff and vendors, gain practical skills in public, private cloud and physical infrastructure, and help optimize cloud spend while maintaining governance and security

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and five years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and relevant experience.
• Experience with multiple operating systems and network/storage solutions.
• Strong collaboration with engineering and security teams.

Responsibilities

• Assist day-to-day cloud operations across AWS, Google Cloud, and Azure.
• Maintain FinOps guardrails, tagging, and cost reporting.
• Support data center operations including racking, cabling, and hardware lifecycle.
• Develop IaC workflows using Terraform or Python.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and anomaly detection.
