Job summary

Objective Partners is seeking a Cloud and Automation Engineer to bridge cloud and on‑prem environments. You will design and operate infrastructure across Azure and on‑premises hyperconverged systems, and push automation to reduce manual work across the environment.

You will work with cross‑functional squads, embracing immutable infrastructure and modern engineering practices, while growing familiarity with new platforms and approaches. This hybrid role requires two days in the office weekly.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of experience integrating and automating infrastructure in a public cloud (Azure preferred) and in virtualized/on-premises environments.
• Experience solving problems across multiple layers of the stack, not just a single platform or tool.
• Experience working in cross-functional or squad-based delivery models with engineers, architects, and business stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate Azure and on‑premises infrastructure with consistent engineering principles across platforms.
• Automate provisioning, configuration, and operations using infrastructure-as-code practices to reduce manual work.
• Partner with cross-functional squads to translate business and application requirements into resilient, secure, and maintainable designs.
• Co-design systems with application developers, favoring immutable infrastructure patterns for rebuilds from code.
• Contribute to our hybrid cloud strategy, deciding what belongs in private data centers vs. Azure and building portable workloads.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues spanning cloud, virtualization, storage, networking, and identity layers.
• Establish standards, runbooks, and documentation to reduce tribal knowledge and improve supportability.
• Embed SRE practices and measurable reliability into day-to-day engineering and incident response.
• Identify opportunities to insource work from external partners and build internal automation and monitoring.
