Job summary

Hastings Insurance Company in Hastings, Michigan, seeks a Claim Technician to support our Claims team with essential administrative and customer service tasks. You will help set up new claims, process documentation, and assist claim professionals to ensure accurate, timely processing.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to type a minimum of 50 words per minute with at least 90% accuracy.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including professional telephone etiquette and a customer-focused approach.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy when entering, reviewing, and organizing information.

Responsibilities

• Establish new claims and claim exposures in the claims management system.
• Respond to telephone inquiries from policyholders, agents, service providers, and other callers with courteous, timely service.
• Process, organize, and index incoming mail, emails, faxes, and other claim-related documentation to support timely claim handling.
• Maintain accurate electronic claim records and documentation, ensuring information is organized and accessible to claim professionals.
• Provide administrative and operational support to claim adjusters and other Claims Division members.
• Prioritize daily assignments and manage competing responsibilities to ensure time-sensitive tasks are completed accurately.
• Collaborate with team members to support claim processing activities, including during high-volume periods.
• Participate in ongoing training and professional development to strengthen technical knowledge and job-related skills.
