Job summary

Vanasse Hangen Brustlin Inc. in Hauppauge, NY seeks a Civil Project Engineer to join our Land Engineering team on diverse, multi-disciplinary projects for institutional, industrial, coastal, real estate and energy clients.

This full-time, hybrid role offers growth in project management and technical skills. The position requires a Civil Engineering degree and 3+ years of experience; EIT or PE is preferred, with proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years of professional civil engineering and site/land development design experience.
• EIT or PE preferred.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
• Experience preparing site/civil plans and land development documentation.
• Understanding of Long Island marketplace and local permitting requirements is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop site/civil engineering plans, designs, and specifications for a variety of projects within the Industrial, Institutional, Real Estate, Coastal, and Energy markets.
• Support project managers and senior engineers in the execution of small, medium, and large-scale projects.
• Prepare land development design and permitting documents, including site layouts, grading, drainage, utilities, erosion and sediment control, and stormwater management plans.
• Perform engineering calculations and analysis related to site development and infrastructure design; prepare and review engineering drawings, technical specifications, reports, and other project documentation.
• Coordinate with surveyors, landscape architects, traffic engineers, environmental professionals, and other disciplines to develop integrated project solutions.
• Attend meetings with clients, regulatory agencies, boards, commissions, utility providers, and other stakeholders.
• Assist with permitting activities and responses to regulatory comments.
• Support project task scope, budget, and schedule management.
• Assist with construction administration activities, including responding to RFIs, reviewing submittals, and providing field support.
• Participate in site visits and construction observations as needed.
• Develop and maintain effective working relationships with clients, project teams, and regulatory agencies.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior staff as experience and expertise develop.
• Assist with proposals, project pursuits, and business development activities.
